UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
All ladies are invited to the United Methodist Women meeting on Tuesday, April 5th in the Fellowship Hall at the Wesley Outreach Center beginning at 7:00. See you there!
The MCUMW attended the United Methodist Women Appalachian District Prayer Breakfast in Hickory on Saturday, March 12th.
After the welcome from Appalachian District Superintendent, Rev. Steve Johnson, we were treated to a delicious breakfast followed by a very inspiring message by Rev. Toni Ruth Smith entitled, “Blessed to Be a Blessing”. Linda Greer, MEI Coordinator, gave an insightful “ Mission Moment” followed by a collection of donations for the Bethlehem Centers in North Carolina. The Memorial Service was then conducted for those UMW members who were lost this past year. Each unit placed doves on a “Memory Tree” for each person being remembered. It was a beautiful ceremony that touched everyone.
United Methodist Women is a group of Christian women with many gifts unified by one Spirit. Our goal is to participate in God’s mission in all areas of life. UMW was organized in 1869 with 6 members and today has 1 million members.
We seek to be:
Followers of Jesus Christ who live their faith in acts of justice and mercy
Catalysts for needed change
Caregivers for the needs and concerns of women, children, and youth
Facilitators to foster growth in the Christian faith, mission education, and Christian social involvement
Our group meets on the FIRST TUESDAY of each month. We plan on trying different meeting times and locations to facilitate attendance so watch for details. We would appreciate your presence and participation as we seek to be the hands and feet of Christ!
