"CREATIVITY AND CHRIST" after school program is back this year with a few changes to help us reach more people! We are a Christian based after-school program for students in Pre-K through 5th grade that focused on both art and biblical principles. Each session includes homework or quiet reading time, a snack that provides a discussion point from either the bible, color theory, or nutrition, and finished with an art lesson/project. Often the art lesson will also be based on a biblical theme or piece from art history. The program is held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:30- 5:30pm at the Millers Creek UMC Wesley Outreach center on Boone Trail. Program begins on September 8, 2015 and follows the school calendar. Students may either attend one day weekly for $15 or both days for $25. Discounts are available for church members or for volunteering as an assistant! Contact Tasha Nunn to register or for more information at 336-927-2189.
We are still trying to get this program up and running, in addition to volunteers and donations of your time....We also need lots of supplies. Any and all donations would be appreciated. We need to have things like:
15-20 sets of Washable markers broad tip
15-20 sets of Washable markers thin
15-20 sets of watercolor paint
15-20 pairs of kid scissors
AT LEAST 15-20 glue sticks if not more
15-20 bottles of white school glue
heavyweight construction paper
drawing paper in multiple sizes up to 18x20
15-20 pink or white large erasers
15-20 kid paint brushes
I have priced around and if you are wishing to buy any of these items even online it seems that walmart is the cheapest for most things... we will take ANYTHING you have that you think might be useful... I am really wanting to teach that art can be a lot of things...not just traditional drawing and painting.....so if you have things laying around the house you think we can use... we would be grateful! Examples of things of this nature are:
Glitter, hot glue sticks, egg cartons, styrofoam trays from veggies/meat, cans or jars, google eyes, pipe cleaners, feathers, etc.
